A Continued Desire to Serve

Over the past eight years as the Calgary Catholic School District Wards 6 & 8 Trustee, I’ve been profoundly moved by the stories I’ve witnessed across our classrooms, parishes, and communities—stories of resilience, joy, sacrifice, and inspiration. These stories have been my fuel and my reminder that I am exactly where God has called me to serve.

Catholic education is shaped not only by faith and curriculum, but by the thoughtful decisions made at the Board table—decisions rooted in policy, equity, compassion, and vision. The voice I bring to that table is shaped by my experience as a teacher, a mother, and a deeply engaged community member.

I remain steadfast in my belief in the transformative power of Catholic education, and I am more committed than ever to continue serving with integrity, passion, and faith.

My Priorities

With your support, I’m ready to continue this important work, ensuring our schools have the resources, leadership, and vision they need to prepare the next generation for success, in both their studies and their faith.

Together, we can build on our progress and face the challenges ahead with compassion, integrity, and determination.

About Lory Iovinelli

As a junior high English and French teacher in the Calgary Catholic School District, I saw in my students not just who they were, but who they were becoming—each one created in the image of God, filled with potential and light. That hope for every child only deepened when I became a mother to four children, who continue to teach me humility, faith, and love. These two vocations—teacher and mother—shaped my calling as a Catholic School Board Trustee. They’ve given me the heart to serve, the vision to advocate, and the courage to lead with compassion. For the past eight years, I’ve carried those lessons into my work as Trustee, where I’ve been inspired by countless stories of resilience, joy, and faith across our schools, parishes, and communities.
The voice I bring to the Board table is grounded in my experience as a teacher, mother, and active community member—and shaped by you, the families of Wards 6 & 8. You’ve seen my visible presence in schools, churches, and neighbourhoods because of listening and learning from you, which ensures your voice is reflected in every decision I make.
I remain deeply committed to the transformative power of Catholic education and would be honoured to continue serving with integrity, passion, and faith as your Catholic School Trustee.

Professional Experience and Education

Guided by faith and purpose, I am committed to protecting the two greatest gifts entrusted to us: our Catholic faith and the students we serve.

As a former teacher and current Trustee, I bring experience, passion, and strong leadership to advocate for publicly funded Catholic education that nurtures both academic success and spiritual growth.

I have been privileged to serve as Board Vice-Chair, Director of the Alberta Catholic School Trustees’ Association, and GrACE representative, working with parishes, parents, and government partners to ensure every student can thrive.

Beyond the boardroom, I serve as a parish volunteer, former school council chair, and proud mother of four. With faith as our foundation, I believe today’s learners are tomorrow’s leaders, and I am dedicated to building a future worthy of them.
